Our Story

SCG Consulting started as the Scottish arm of 2Circles Communications in 2008, working with local SMEs helping with services such as WLR3 and least cost routing of call charges. Soon, alliances were built with trade bodies such as the National Association of Funeral Directors, the Horticultural Trades Association and The Law Society of Scotland. Many of these relationships are still strong, almost twenty years later.

In those days, much time was a spent persuading business owners why it would be a good idea to be able to access emails on a mobile phone and talking about products like Blackberry and 16MB broadband.

As with everything in this industry, things developed quickly. iPhones arrived around the time that Barack Obama became President and soon everyone had to have one of those. Meanwhile ISDN lines were ubiquitous and leased lines were the preserve of large oil companies and the banks.

This was set to change as the UK discovered a huge thirst for bandwidth but was beset with a network that in many cases had been in place since 1902 (when Manchester United were called Newton Heath and the Boer War was in full flight). This had to change and when government funding arrived for SMEs, 2 Circles helped over 100 businesses to access funding worth over £300,000.

Time once again marched on and BT announced in 2019 that by 2027, the UK’s analogue network was due to switched off and businesses again needed help to migrate to VoIP services.

Through all these changes, the business has concentrated on building and maintaining good relationships with a growing list of clients taking them on the technology journey. As trends and infrastructures have shifted, relationships have remained constant.
